Exploration Place

This is a view of Exploration Place from the back side. It's a science museum with lots of stuff for kids to do, and adults, too. Their most recent exhibit is called "The Scoop on Poop". Y'all want to go?

Museums on the River

This is a decorative wall near the area of several Wichita museums.

It has the etching of the Arkansas river on it.

If you live anywhere but Kansas - this river is pronounced as "Are-Kan-Saw". But, in Kansas it is pronounced as "Are-Kansas". Interesting how the state you live in "Kan" make a difference in the pronunciation of a river that runs through it.

America 3

This photo is best viewed enlarged. It's a picture of the America3 sailing vessel, winner of the 1992 America's Cup race. It stays permanently displayed on the grounds of the Wichita Boathouse (seen to the left). This is the combined photo of - the above (mast), below (shark?), and in between (boat). All connected into one great and speedy sailing yacht. Can't you just imagine what that shark looked like swimming along below this boat? It must of been quite intimidating to the other fishes in the sea.

Boathouse

The Wichita Boathouse is one of the Wichita's attractions, featuring the permanent display of the Jayhawk, an International America's Cup Class yacht, and other exhibits. To see the Yacht, or read more, click here: boathouse (this photo was taken in August, thus the still green trees)

These colorful benches, line the entrance to Exploration Place.

Train Museum

Here's a different view of yesterday's photo. In it, you can see a Locomotive Steam Engine that is a new addition to the Great Plains Transportation Museum. The museum itself is located in the smaller part of the red brick building. From the second floor, there is a door that leads out to the trains on display. If you like trains, and museums - here's a link to this museum's site. GreatPlainsTransportationMuseum I know the tunnel (under bridge) looked a bit creepy in yesterday's photo, but it really was a safe place to walk. Thanks for your concern though. My reason for walking through it was kind of like the chicken's reason for crossing the road - "to get to the other side".
