Young Weeping Willow

I guess if I was a tree, this is the kind I would be, as there has been a fair amount of weeping in my life. Although, I have the strength of a mighty Oak. What kind of tree would you be?

Museums on the River

This is a decorative wall near the area of several Wichita museums.
It has the etching of the Arkansas river on it.
If you live anywhere but Kansas - this river is pronounced as "Are-Kan-Saw". But, in Kansas it is pronounced as "Are-Kansas". Interesting how the state you live in "Kan" make a difference in the pronunciation of a river that runs through it.

Burger King

When you "have it your way" - what do you request on your hamburger?
For me - it's Mayonaise, Lettuce, Onion, Tomato, and Cheese.
Sometimes if available, Jalapeno's.
But, never dill pickles.

Post post

Notice, the word "Post" appears on two of the cereal boxes.
Does that make this a Post post?
Or, is that Total nonsense?

Water, water, everywhere

Flat area water fountains, like this one, are found in various parts of Wichita, and other towns and cities. They provide cool, free, fun, for the kids who enjoy playing in them, and time out for their busy parents to sit and relax (in the hot sun!).

It makes for a nice landscaping trim.

Guess, they can't read.

Municipal Pool

In my youth, I loved to go swimming at Municipal Pool, near Riverside Park. It was a huge swimming pool, with several diving boards (high and low) - and two early day water slides. They were so much fun, one was straight, and the other had a few bumps to it. They had water running down them to add to the sliding fun. They were just slides like you would see at a park, the metal kind - but at the end - you splashed into the pool.

Now - Wichita, has many public pools scattered throughout the city. Smaller pools, for neighborhoods to have easy access to.

This is a photo of a commemorative plaque about the wonderful old swimming pool, that was so much fun. I remember it having a chain link fence that sectioned it off from the diving area. Some would dive off the board, and swim under water - and under the chainlink fence ending up up in the swimming area. Those were the days!

Eye of the beholder

This big guy, or gal, was sitting by the edge of the opening of the trash can. It was larger than most flies, and makes me think of what I use to hear of being referred to as a horsefly.

In the beautiful Riverside Park, that I've been showing photo's from, this bugs favorite place was right by the opening of the trash can. Just goes to show 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. Speaking of eye(s) - aren't they an interesting color?

Decor

Photo taken in Mel's Bar and Grill - a place that serves great sandwiches, and other tasty menu items. It has a nice old wooden saloon style counter, with large mirror, and bar stools. It also has wooden tables and chairs, and tall wooden booths. It has a lot of old wooden furnishings, and is a nice place to cool off, and dine.

What fun

What fun to balance and walk on the edge of the path, instead of on the path.
See the mothers hand extended to catch him if he falls.

Exercising

This little guy is demonstrating (or trying to) how this bicycling apparatus works. Put your feet on the pedals, and your hands on the handle bars, and round and round they go. He needs to grow a bit, to fully master this piece of playground equipment. Maybe it's more for Mom's and Dad's who are bring their chidren to the park. This photo was taken at Riverside Park, in Wichita, Ks.
