Mother and child

This statue is found outside the entry (and exit) to Botanica - Wichita's Botanical Garden. I imagine some mothers leave Botanica, carrying a tired child to the car after an afternoon spent walking amongst the flowers and butterflies. Can anyone relate to this pose? I think they both look ready for a nap, and the child has a headstart, over mom.

Wow! I can relate that statue. I remember the last time that my mother carried me. Just like the little girl I was too old to be carried. My mom took me shopping and over did it. I was as tiered as I could be and needed a ride. Till this day I can remember that ride and the other things that my mother had to carry on that last ride.

I can relate, or at least my husband can. When we visited Rock City Gardens near Chattanooga, Tenn., he had to carry the sleepy child, who slept the entire way through the gardens.

I relate too though it makes me remember those wonderful days when my own little girl child was eager to be carried.

My younger daughter just asked me last night what would happen if I couldn't carry her anymore. She just turned seven. I said, well, it means you've become a big kid! I said it cheerily, but I also realized how these years are slipping by so quickly...

I love your photos, Wendy, and the questions that you pose, and the things I end up thinking about because of them.
