The birds

The other evening, I came across a scene that looked like it was right out of the old Alfred Hitchcok movie titled "The Birds". I have no idea what kind of birds these are, but they are quite noisy. The trees were covered with them, so was an area of the parking lot, and the telephone wires! It was a site to see, and this photo doesn't do it justice, but my camera (or I) aren't very good at taking low light - distant shots. If you enlarge the pic you will see how the trees are practically outlined by birds. This is not seen all over Wichita, I've mostly noticed it out west of the city. This was taken at Lowe's Home Improvement store's parking lot. Customers getting in and out of their cars - looked at the large amount of noisy and active birds in awe. A worker there, told me that these birds roost in the area each evening, and when the sun comes up the next morning, they leave. Tomorrow, I'll show you what they leave behind.

OMG! My son and I were at that same Lowe's last week. It was funny to see the people holding things over their heads to make sure they didn't get dropped on. I knew what kind of birds these were a couple years ago, because we had them roosting in our trees. I know EXACTLY what you have to show tomorrow. I was sooo thankful the following year when they didn't come back. I don't know why they didn't come back.

Interesting photo. so many of them. When the movie Birds came out my daughter saw it, and it has effected her for life...she is so afraid of birds, and she's now an adult!

I feel a little bit like Tippi Hedren here.

There's a tree in my neighborhood that comes alive with birds in the evening. And I really mean it comes alive - the birds move in and out of the tree so quickly that it seems the leaves are flying.

They look buzzards to me but I'm not at all certain.

Perhaps just they're wondering when all the human visitors will leave so they can get some rest! After all they have an early start tomorrow if they want to get the worms.

I also remember that movie Birds, and remember being very scared for a long time after.

Ooh Wendy!! I always wonder why birds do that. Only a few days ago I filmed loads of birds in the trees oppsite my back garden. I will have to post it, so you can see. It was SO SO loud. I hope your speakers are working. I'll try and do it this week!!

Take care, great pic.

Hi...Those birds are called grackle's...we have them here at our Walmart store. They are very loud and they come out in the evenings and then leave by daybreak
