Soda fountain

A photo of a straw dispenser, taken at the Old Mill Tasty Shop. While most businesses have modernized over time, this old fashioned cafe and ice cream parlor - has remained pretty much unchanged since 1932. It has wooden booths, and tables with parlor chairs. There's huge old wooden ice box, and the ice cream counter is made of marble. It has old black and white tile on the floors, and a high molded ceiling. There's a large mirror behind the soda fountain, and historical old photos of Wichita on the walls. One of my favorites on their menu is the Chicken Salad (w/cashews) Sandwich.

I think I'd have to order a banana split but I know my husband would want a chocolate malt.

There's a lot of similarities between the Ouachita mountains and the Ozarks, where Branson is located. Do you go to Branson often?

Now THAT is what they should franchise - can't imagine that there is a corner of the US where people would not enjoy such a place as a refuge for their free time.

Oh yes, we grew up with Soda Fountains. My daughter bought a antique straw disipenser at a Estate sale..the grandkids love it.

A soda fountain is where I tasted my first "suicide" A shot of every flavor in your coke!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I haven't seen one of these in a long, long time. It brings back memories of my youth.
