Barnstormin'

Wichita is not only known as a cowtown from the early cattle drives. It's also known as "The air capital of the world". Many major aircraft manufacturing companies got their start here. Because of Wichita's airplane history, it's not uncommon to see unusual airplanes like this one. Each having their own theme. This one is called "Barnstormin'" and is located near the entrance of the parking lot for Old Cowtown.

Is this like the saying; When pigs fly? Or, in this case cows. LOL

How unusual!

I'll have to take a pic of the concrete cows that we have over here. They aren't as cool looking as the cow in your pic though!! :0)

That's great, just great. The people who live at this address are surely fun-loving folks.

This reminds me of the "flying" cow in the movie Twister, also about Wichita...

Is that also a mail box? Neat if it is.

lv2scpbk - cute comment about "when pigs fly" - it sure fits the pic.

NorthBayPhoto - I agree the barnstorming plane would make a great mailbox, but it's only a fun little statue.

Jayne - me being from a "cowtown" - I would like to see your concrete cows. But, I would not like to drink their rock solid milk. ;)

Annie - don't know who started this little series of whimsical airplane statues in our city, but they aren't at homes - they are displayed at businesses. This one was near the entrance of Old Cowtown's parking lot.

Aloha - aerodynamic is fun description of that high flying pig's stance.

Michis - I believe I've been through Paderborn when visiting your beautiful country.

Lan Nghiem-Phu - your comment about the flying cow in Twister, also makes me think of another twister scene with a flying cow - ever seen The Wizard of Oz?

oldmanlincoln - it's not a mailbox, but now I'm thinking if I ever replace mine, I would like for it to look like an old red barn.

Thank you all for your comments - glad you enjoyed the "not so plain" plane photo. If I see some of the others, I'll post their pics too, there are a lot of cute themes to them. I think at one time, there were about 30 of them scattered throughout Wichita.
