Dec. 1st Theme Day - Bridges

The John Mack Bridge
The left side is identical to the right side, but the angle of the photo doesn't show it. This is my favorite bridge in Wichita. It was built in 1931. If you would like to read a little history on it, click here http://members.cox.net/wichitahpa/johnmack.html This link also shows another photo of it.

I love the big concrete rainbow arches - there are 8 of them on each side. If I would of taken this photo from the other end of the bridge, you would see a cold white coating of snow on the arches. But, from the end I photographed - the snow was already melting, giving the bridge a wet look.

The angle of the shot makes the bridge look like it has two distinctly different styles...interesting photo...it also looks like a solid structure.

Most unusual design to this bridge. Nice shot.

I like the simple clean look of the design. And it's nice too that they made space for pedestrians (I'm sure that cost more).

How many different ways mankind comes up with to cross a stream or a canyon. It is amazing to see all of the variations.

I think this is the most unusual bridge I've seen yet! It does look like the two sides are different.

You're proving yourself to be a fine photographer, showing angles and perspectives that surprise and intrigue, Wendy.

Rainbow arches--I didn't know that's what they were called. A bridge friendly to pedestrians too.

I'm so glad the snow is melting - Hyde DP is carrying permalinks to the bridge posts and will be updated at intervals until Dec 2nd.

What an unusual bridge - it offers a lot of photographic potential, I would think.
