Light

The other night we had an electical storm, and power went out in parts of the city. Had to light the old kerosene lamp. Also, had a flashlight - which is positioned in this photo directly behind the lamp, shining through the pretty blue oil. I was having fun staging the photo with two forms of light. By morning, electicity had been restored.

Great shot!! Is it strictly the oil that is creating the blue colour or is the flashlight an LED with a bit of blue light?

Thanks for visiting my NorthBayPhoto blog. I too have memories of my grandparents and great-grandparents farm (but these aren't in the NorthBay area so they won't be appearing on this blog).

Pretty picture, nice colors and light. Sometimes outages can be fun and draw the family closer together, if you don't have any medical problems or other severe needs for power.

I bet there was a warm and happy feeling in your house that evening. I do like the light that comes from an oil lamp, with and without the flashlight.

Well, at least you had fun. :) It drives me nuts when our power goes out.

a power cut was so regular back in the day.
