Crime doesn't pay

Wichita is not without crime - and this is a photo of the jail.

Inmates won't be escaping through those little windows.

Before this fairly new building was built - jail cells were located in an upper floor of the Sedgwick County Courthouse (blue building). Inmates are, sometimes, held in jail while awaiting their court dates, for trial and sentencing.

That looks like a jail. Such small windows!

It's fun to look at all the sites of Wichita. I grew up on Bebe Street. My father worked at Boeing. I spent many a day playing in "the Big Ditch."

Keep up the good work.

That jail would give me claustrophbia being so enclosed. Great capture.

It's certainly got a utilitarian look to it, doesn't it?

Well, I suppose there's a bit of a blessing in having some light, some little bit of light in one's cell. But I'm sure the window is high up on the wall and that there's no way to look out to see the larger world. It strikes me as inhumane and uncivilized to lock people away from the larger world.
