Neat buildings

These buildings are located, east of downtown Wichita, at the intersection of Hillside and Douglas. Both are unique and pretty in their designs. Dockum was originally a drug store. Over time, other businesses have come and gone from the old building. Across the street is the Crown Uptown Dinner Theater offering a variety of song, dance, modeling, and theatrical shows. All live.

If this link works - it will take you to an article about the carthalite trim on the Dockum building and others areas in Wichita. carthalite
I'm curious to know - does your city have buildings with carthalite? According to the article it seems to be pretty uncommon.

No one puts that much work into buildings anymore. Sad.

They are both beautiful buildings. I agree with Andrew, modern buildings just don't have that kind of character.

BTW Thanks for the compliment on my post...Martha's sister...only in my dreams.

I' ve never heard of Carthalite before. Surely this would be something I'd have seen but not recognized in buildings in northern Oklahoma, where I spent much time. That's not so far from Wichita.

These buildings are attractive, aren't they.

Wendy,

I haven't seen this on the buildings in the historic, downtown area of McKinney. But, now that you pointed this out, I will be looking more closely.

Good! Now I have something new to look for. The buildings are enhanced by the carthalite trim.
